Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 12, 2024
Local Clip is a marketing site and software offering operated in France under the auto-entrepreneur status of Thomas Chaigneau (chainyo.dev). This privacy notice explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website, join the waitlist, or start a purchase, and how we use and safeguard that information in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and French data protection law.
Who is responsible for your data?
- Data controller: Thomas Chaigneau, auto-entrepreneur registered in France
- Business registration: Auto-entrepreneur (micro-entreprise) — SIREN 920 550 845, SIRET 920 550 845 00027, NAF 6202A (Conseil en systèmes et logiciels informatiques), active since 02/05/2025

Information we collect
Website interactions
- Technical logs generated by our hosting provider (Cloudflare), including IP address, device type, and browser information needed to serve the site securely.
- Basic performance and security telemetry provided by Cloudflare such as request counts, error rates, and threat detections.
Waitlist and contact requests
- Email address, collected when you join the waitlist or request updates.
- Metadata captured automatically with the submission (time of signup, IP address, user agent, language preference, referrer, and timezone header if supplied) to help us triage spam and understand interest by region.
Checkout and licensing
- When you select a paid plan we redirect you to Polar (our payment and licensing partner). Polar processes the personal and payment details you provide directly to them. We can access high-level billing metadata (selected plan, transaction status) to activate your license.
We do not sell personal information or combine it with third-party advertising data.
How and why we use your information
We use your personal data only for the purposes listed below:
- Provide and secure the website (legitimate interest): System logs help us block abusive traffic and debug availability issues.
- Run the waitlist (consent): We use your email to send launch updates and product news you requested.
- Understand product demand (legitimate interest): Aggregated, non-identifying metadata helps us prioritise features and regional availability.
- Process orders (contract): When you enter checkout we share the minimum required data with Polar to create and manage your license.
- Comply with legal obligations (legal requirement): We may retain records needed for accounting, taxation, or to respond to lawful requests.
Data retention
- Waitlist entries are kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion. If you remain inactive for 24 months we routinely purge your email unless you have become a customer.
- Technical logs supplied by Cloudflare are generally retained for up to 30 days unless we must preserve them for security investigations.
- Transaction records processed through Polar follow statutory accounting periods (up to 10 years under French law).
How we share your information
We rely on trusted service providers to run Local Clip:
- Cloudflare, Inc. (EU & US) hosts our website, provides traffic security, and stores the D1 database that holds waitlist submissions.
- Polar Software, Inc. (EU) powers checkout, licensing, and customer billing.
- Email delivery providers (if activated) send transactional or product update emails. They receive your email address only after you opt in.
Every processor is bound by data protection agreements and may only use your information on our instructions. We do not permit them to use your data for their own marketing.
International transfers
Whenever data moves outside the European Economic Area we rely on recognised safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses provided by our partners.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”) when legally permitted.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Data portability for information you provided to us.
- Withdraw consent at any time for email communications. Every message includes an unsubscribe option.
You can exercise these rights by emailing thomas@chainyo.dev. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are dissatisfied with our response you may lodge a complaint with the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL), the French data protection authority.
Cookies and similar technologies
We currently do not run third-party analytics or advertising cookies. Essential cookies or local storage entries may be used to keep the site secure, remember preferences, or fulfil checkout steps. You can block cookies through your browser settings, but certain features may become unavailable.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy when our practices change or to remain compliant with the law. The “Last updated” date will always reflect the latest revision. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website or via email if you are subscribed.
